Nominees are being accepted for awards honoring those who champion literature in southern Nevada.

Nominations are open for the 2012 Vegas Valley Book Festival Crystal Bookmark Awards Southern Nevada recognizing an individual and an organization advancing the cause of literature. The submission form can be accessed at www.vegasvalleybookfestival.org/crystal-bookmark/. You also can call 229-5431 for a nomination form.

Nominees must live in southern Nevada, and the call is open until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The two awards will be presented at the Vegas Valley Book Festival at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the auditorium of the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St.

The Vegas Valley Book Festival is scheduled for November 1-3. Most events will take place at the Historic Fifth Street School and the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

The festival is produced by the city of Las Vegas; Las Vegas-Clark County Library District; UNLV’s Black Mountain Institute; American Institute of Graphic Artists, Las Vegas chapter; Las Vegas Review-Journal; and Nevada Humanities, a festival founder.
