Huge County Auction Upcoming

The most interesting county auction of the year is on the way.

Clark County and several public agencies will host the last and largest government surplus auction of the year at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The popular auctions are held three times annually at a county storage lot at 4320 Stephanie St., off Flamingo Road near Dog Fancier’s Park. The auctions feature items used or acquired by government agencies ranging from cars and trucks to office equipment and lost and found merchandise.

“The third and final auction of the year is always the biggest,” said David Johnson, manager of the county’s Automotive Division. “Budgets are set for the current fiscal year and any surplus vehicles that are being replaced can be put up for sale. We also expect to see five months’ worth of lost and found items from McCarran, including jewelry, computers, cameras, Kindles and i-Pods.”

Interested participants are urged to preregister as bidders during a three-day preview and preregistration period in advance of the sale. A registration office will be set up on site at the auction lot from Wednesday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the preview, the public also can see some vehicles and merchandise being offered for sale.

TNT Auction, the contractor that manages the sales, posts a complete listing of items that will be sold at the action on its website at www.tntauction.com. The postings get updated regularly as the date of the auction approaches and participants submit more items for sale.

In addition to Clark County and McCarran International Airport, frequent auction participants include all local cities, the state of Nevada, UNLV, Las Vegas Convention Center, Clark County School District, Las Vegas Valley Water District, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, St. George, and Washington County, Utah. Auctions are held on Saturdays three times a year. Dates for 2012 sales will be scheduled by the end of 2011.
