Hammargren Home Open for Nevada Day

Former Nevada Lieutenant Governor Dr. Lonnie Hammargren is again opening his home to visitors Sunday for Nevada Day celebrations.

The home, 4318 Ridgecrest Drive, is loaded with memorabilia. Everything from pieces of long-gone casinos to objects from the space race is on display. The newest items include the sign from the House of Lords Steak House and the entire entrance from the Casbar Lounge, both from the now closed Sahara Hotel and Casino.

Live entertainment featuring impersonators and tribute artists will be from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. Personalities from three shows featuring Las Vegas will be at the home. Rick Harrison from "Pawn Stars", Rick Dale from "American Restorations" and the crew from the new Animal Planet show "Tanked" are expected.

The organizers of the event are asking visitors to park with courtesy to the rest of the neighbors. There will be shuttles to run people from parking lots at Flamingo and Sandhill Roads to the house on Ridgecrest.
