Runners Highlight Veteran Effort at UNLV

UNLV students and veterans will be running through campus to draw attention to a special program designed to help veterans transition from the military life into the campus life.

The run starts at 6 a.m. Thursday in front of the student union. Runners have signed up to run for a certain amount of time, so runners will be seen on campus until 6 p.m. The event is to bring attention to Rebel Vets, an office on campus that helps veterans get back into being a student.

It is estimated that 1,000 students are also veterans. Current Air Force and Army ROTC members will also be running. At 8 a.m., near the Veterans Memorial Site, runners will stop for reveille and the raising of the American flag.
