Neighborhood Cleanup Day Set for Saturday

People living in the area around Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway will get a chance to clean up their neighborhood with the help of the Clark County and Metro Police.

Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow and Metro Police's Southeast Area Command will host the cleanup day Saturday at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 East Missouri Avenue.

Residents and volunteers will gather at the center at 9 a.m. By 9:30 a.m., volunteers will spread out over the neighborhood with rakes, shovels and trash bags to clean up the area. They will also be armed with painting supplies to paint over graffiti.

Dumpsters will be place at the corners of Dodd and Steptoe Streets and Kimberly Avenue and Broadbent Boulevard for people to throw away unwanted items and debris from their home.

People interested in helping should wear layered clothing and sturdy closed-toe shoes.
