Coroner Says Woman Died of Blunt Force Trauma

 

The Clark County Coroner has identified the woman found dead in a business near Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road.

Celia Gagnon, 54, of Las Vegas was found in Peru Post Etc., a business she owned, on February 13. The coroner’s report also says that Gagnon died of blunt force trauma to her head. It named the secondary cause of assault.

Police have a person of interest in the murder. He is 62-year-old Teofilo Bora, also known as Teofilo Borja-Ormeno. It is believed he drives a 1997 GMC Yukon with license plates 831-VBX. Anyone with information about the murder or the person of interest is asked to call Crime Stoppers 385-5555.

Police Focusing on Intersections This Week

 

Another round of heavy enforcement for intersection safety takes place this week in southern Nevada.

A report released this week by the Alliance for Biking and Walking rated Las Vegas 32nd out of 51 major cities for safety.

Local jurisdictions have “safety events” planned throughout the valley this week, including the following:

DUI Checkpoint Slated for Saturday Night

DUI Checkpoint Slated for Saturday Night

 

Multiple law enforcement agencies will combine on a DUI checkpoint over Labor Day weekend.

The checkpoint will take place from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday near Tropicana and Paradise, with the following borders: Tropicana on the south, Flamingo on the north, Maryland Parkway on the east and Koval on the west. Previous checkpoints at this location have been extremely successful in prior years.

Metro’s Traffic Bureau, along with several officers from Convention Center Area Command and Southeast Area Command, will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” sponsored by the Joining Forces Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
