DUI Checkpoint Slated for Saturday Night

Multiple law enforcement agencies will combine on a DUI checkpoint over Labor Day weekend.

The checkpoint will take place from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday near Tropicana and Paradise, with the following borders: Tropicana on the south, Flamingo on the north, Maryland Parkway on the east and Koval on the west. Previous checkpoints at this location have been extremely successful in prior years.

Metro’s Traffic Bureau, along with several officers from Convention Center Area Command and Southeast Area Command, will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” sponsored by the Joining Forces Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.

Officers from throughout southern Nevada will take part in this multi-jurisdictional event to focus attention on both the drug and/or alcohol impaired driver. Special emphasis will be placed on the drugged driver as trained Drug Recognition Expert Officers will be evaluating impaired drivers.

Officers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police Department, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in this event.
