Police Search for Man Who Robbed Bank

 

Metro Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery happened just before 3 p.m., at a bank near Eastern and Tropicana Avenues. The suspect walked into the bank, pulled out a gun and demanded money. The teller gave the gunman money and he ran from the building, leaving in a black, four-door sedan.

The man is described as black between 45 and 55 years old. He is between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot, with a thin build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black, long-sleeve button-up shirt, a white undershirt, blue Dickie-type pants, orange dress shoes and sunglasses.

Police Look for Man in Attempted Sexual Assault of Children

Metro Police are looking for help in identifying and tracking down a man they say tried to sexually abuse two young children.

The incident happened June 20 near Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway. Police say the man lured the two children, ages 3 and 6, to an apartment. Investigators say he exposed himself to the children and touched one of them. A parent found the man and the children, and he left the apartment.

The subject police are looking for is described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old. He is 5-foot-7 with a slender build. He uses the name Deandre.

Police Search for Robbery Suspects

Metro Police are looking for three men who robbed at least two people in the same area last month.

The robberies happened April 18 near Mountain Vista Street and Harmon Avenue. Police say the suspects approached the victims, who were both juveniles, and demanded their property. The suspects then hit the victims and took their personal property. The suspects left the area in a dark two-door or four-door sedan-type vehicle. The license plates may have been Nevada plates starting with 576.

The suspects are described as black men, between the ages of 18 and 20 years old. Two of the men are 6-foot. One is described as having a heavy build and a short afro hairstyle. The second man has a thin build and short, braided hair. The third suspect is 5-foot-10 with a thin build and short, braided hair.

Coroner Says Woman Died of Blunt Force Trauma

 

The Clark County Coroner has identified the woman found dead in a business near Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road.

Celia Gagnon, 54, of Las Vegas was found in Peru Post Etc., a business she owned, on February 13. The coroner’s report also says that Gagnon died of blunt force trauma to her head. It named the secondary cause of assault.

Police have a person of interest in the murder. He is 62-year-old Teofilo Bora, also known as Teofilo Borja-Ormeno. It is believed he drives a 1997 GMC Yukon with license plates 831-VBX. Anyone with information about the murder or the person of interest is asked to call Crime Stoppers 385-5555.

Police Focusing on Intersections This Week

 

Another round of heavy enforcement for intersection safety takes place this week in southern Nevada.

A report released this week by the Alliance for Biking and Walking rated Las Vegas 32nd out of 51 major cities for safety.

Local jurisdictions have “safety events” planned throughout the valley this week, including the following:

DUI Checkpoint Slated for Saturday Night

DUI Checkpoint Slated for Saturday Night

 

Multiple law enforcement agencies will combine on a DUI checkpoint over Labor Day weekend.

The checkpoint will take place from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday near Tropicana and Paradise, with the following borders: Tropicana on the south, Flamingo on the north, Maryland Parkway on the east and Koval on the west. Previous checkpoints at this location have been extremely successful in prior years.

Metro’s Traffic Bureau, along with several officers from Convention Center Area Command and Southeast Area Command, will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” sponsored by the Joining Forces Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
