UNLV is among the top 20 most popular universities in the country in a recent survey from U.S. News & World Report.
The school was ranked 12th based what is known as yield, which is the percentage of applicants accepted by a college who end up in enrolling. UNLV’s yield percentage was 60 percent.
The idea is that more and more students are applying to several different colleges but are only going to actually enroll in the college they really want to attend. According to the survey, the higher the yield percentage a school earns the more popular the school.
Brigham Young University – Provo had the highest yield at 79.7 percent. Harvard University was the second at 75.9 percent.
In all, 266 universities from around the country, both private and public, submitted yield information to the magazine.
The school with the lowest yield was St. John’s University in Queens, New York with a yield of 10.6 percent.
