UNLV Board of Regents met Friday to discuss a possible tuition rate hike.

If approved, the hike would take effect next year. Many students are upset about the hike and the student government sent a letter to the board outlining all the reasons why they shouldn't have to pay more.

The students argue that the school has not seen many of the improvements that were promised after the eight percent hike in December 2011.

Some graduate students said the benefits the school would receive would be worth the increase.

"If we have this goal of improving the quality of education and improving the quality of our university, increasing the tuition and fee costs for us, especially this very modest amount, doesn't seem unreasonable." student Sharon Young said.

A decision on the rate increase should be made in June.
