McCarran Receives Millions for Improvements

McCarran International Airport is receiving a federal grant worth millions of dollars to improve the part of the airport called the apron.

The airport is getting $7.4 million for the project. The apron is the part of the airport that is used for loading and unloading passengers, refueling, servicing and parking of aircraft.

Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced the grant Thursday.

“This investment will put Nevadans back to work ensuring that McCarran Airport can support all passengers traveling to and from the world’s premier tourist destination,” Reid said.  “Nevada’s airports are crucial to our state’s economic recovery and these resources will ensure the reliability of McCarran for years to come.”
