Fire Station Open Houses to Educate Public

Rotating open houses at Clark County fire stations are designed to give the public a look inside fire safety and prevention.

Starting this Saturday, the department will host a community open house at one fire station every other month.

The first open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Fire Station 17 located at 5110 Andover Drive, near Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway. People can take a tour of the fire station and obtain fire, drowning prevention and other life safety information from the Fire Department and other community organizations.

Participating agencies at Saturday’s event include Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Safe Kids Clark County, Healthy Homes, UMC Burn Center and Healthy Smiles. The Fire Department’s fire safety house, which teaches children how to get out of their homes safely in case of fire, will be at the event in addition to its popular “Captain Be Safe” inflatable firefighter character.

The next open house will be held on from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at Fire Station 38, located at 1755 Silver Hawk Ave, near east Serene Avenue and Spencer Street.
