Grant Funding Forum Friday Morning at County Library

 

Non-profit sustainability and grant funding will be the topics of focus at a Friday morning forum co-sponsored by 8 News Now.

The office of Nevada Senator Harry Reid will host a discussion forum including experts and federal funding representatives from government agencies including U.S. Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, Transportation and more will be available throughout the program to discuss best practices for applying for federal grants.

Moonridge Group, The Lincy Institute, Clark County Library, and KLAS-TV Channel 8 News Now Community Pride Program are official partners of the event.

The forum takes place at the Clark County Library, 1401 East Flamingo Road, from 7:30 a.m. until noon.

Survey Finds UNLV Employees Cannot  Afford Basic Health Care

A new survey finds that most employees at UNLV do not make enough to pay the cost of even basic health care.

According to findings from the UNLV Health Benefits Survey, most UNLV employees cannot afford basic health care. Vice president for Finance and Business Gerry Bomotti, who also serves as chair of the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Public Employees Benefits Program Task Force, said that rising premiums and deductibles are not relative to salary levels.

IRS YouTube Channel Provides Last-Minute Tax Tips

With Tax Day upon us, helpful tax-related information can be found on the IRS YouTube channel. The channel, which debuted in August 2009, features numerous IRS experts answering common and not-so-common tax questions.

The IRS YouTube channel is home to hundreds of videos on subjects ranging from how to choose a tax preparer to filing your taxes for free to checking on your refund.

Videos are posted in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. To date, there have been more than 1.7 million views.

Taxpayers can even subscribe to the channel to receive notice of new video offerings. In fact, the IRS will soon be featuring summertime video tax tips.
