UNLV Now 19th in AP Poll; Stanback Wins MWC Honor

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The UNLV men's basketball team moved up two spots in Associated Press Top-25 NCAA rankings, to 19th, and senior Chace Stanback was named player of the week by the Mountain West Conference.

The Runnin' Rebels, now 13-2 after wins over Louisiana-Monroe on Dec. 19 and California on Friday, also moved up three spots, to No. 20, in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll in results announced Monday.

The 22-year-old Stanback scored a career high 29 points in the Rebels' 81-63 win over Louisiana-Monroe, including eight 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Stanback scored 15 points with three rebounds and one assist in UNLV's 85-68 win over California.

UNLV hosts Central Arkansas on Wednesday, and plays at Hawaii on Saturday.
