Governor Brian Sandoval helped cut the ribbon Tuesday morning on the opening of one of 18 new self-service DMV kiosks.

Sandoval celebrated the opening of a kiosk at the UNLV Student Union, which is now one of 45 statewide.

New DMV kiosk functions include accepting applications for driver’s license and identification card renewals, duplicate driver’s license, identification cards and instruction permits, and accepting payment for a registration reinstatement resulting from a lapse in insurance.

The DMV kiosks also process registration renewals and decals, and driver history records. Most of the new “DMVs in a Box” are located in area supermarkets.
