Atomic Testing Museum Adding "National" to Name

The Atomic Testing Museum is now the newest "national" museum.

The center's name was officially changed Friday during a ceremony headed by U.S. Sen. Harry Reid before he was involved in an accident along I-15.

The ceremony coincides with the observation of Nevada Day and the National Day of Remembrance.

The museum focuses on the history of the nuclear bomb, and Nevada's important role in its testing and development.

The National Atomic Testing Museum is just the 37th museum in the country to earn the "national" designation.
