LAS VEGAS -- Clark County and McCarran Airport marked the start of construction on the Siegfried and Roy Park Thursday afternoon. The parks two namesakes, legendary famed illusionists, Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn were on hand for the ground breaking ceremony.

Representatives for the Clark County Commission and McCarran International Airport, were also on hand for the big dig because the $11.5 million project is being developed by the Clark County Department of Aviation.

It's a part of the final project in the Terminal 3 airport expansion; $4.5 million will be utilized in capital parks grants from Clark County. Once the park is finished next summer it will be located along the north side of Russell Road between Maryland Parkway and Paradise Road.

The 20-acre park will have a walking trail, two tennis courts, a splash pad, and a range of playground equipment suitable for toddlers through pre-teens. Parking goers will also have access to parking from Maryland Parkway and Lady Marlene Avenue.

The park will provide additional recreational space for those who live immediately north of McCarran International Airport.
