A revamped neighborhood park will celebrate a grand re-opening next weekend.

Grapevine Springs Neighborhood Park will be feted at noon Saturday, Oct. 13. The park is located at 5280 Palm St., near Hacienda Avenue.

There will be children’s games, snow cones and popcorn at the event. Also featured are three new dog runs at Grapevine’s new dog park. Other new amenities include a playground for toddlers, a covered play area, a walking track within a large exercise area, a horseshoe pit, several picnic tables with pavilion shade structures and barbeques, and a new bathroom facility.

Grapevine Springs will also pilot a new type of call box designed to be impervious to vandals. The 14-foot-tall yellow box contains a help button to report police or medical emergencies. A blue rotating light comes on when the button in pressed.

The opening of Grapevine Springs was scheduled for August, but was delayed by flood damage.
