Actress Uses Star Power to Bring Votes to President Obama

Actress Eva Longoria used her star power to stump for President Obama on the UNLV campus.

Longoria spoke to students Tuesday and then led them to an early voting site. She told the students that the president understands how important it is to fund a college education.

"We are lucky we have a president who understands this. Who has helped students by doubling the Pell grants. Who has helped students by lowering the interest rates on student loans. He wants to make sure that the college tax credit helps millions of students and families pay for college," Longoria said.

The actress's appearance came on the same day that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan stopped in Henderson. The team told a crowd of more than 6,000 people that they wanted to keep the U.S. military the strongest in the world.

Nevada is battleground state in the presidential election. President Obama is scheduled to be here Wednesday and first lady Michelle Obama is expected to be here Friday.
