Reviewer: Ambitious Kailyn’s Diner deserves a wider audience

A diner that offers Korean-fusion dishes along side twists on American favorites deserves more attention, restaurant reviewer said.

The espresso-infused pancakes with chocolate whipped cream, and the strawberry-shortcake French toast were awfully tempting, but we also were intrigued by the Korean-fusion breakfasts at Kailyn’s Diner. And for good reason, because they were fusion at its finest.

Local chef and restaurateur Chris Palmeri didn’t plan on opening two new, different eateries at the same time. It just happened that way.

Silver Sevens Offering Steak and Lobster Dinner Special

A newly remodeled resort is offering dining specials in honor of its new name.

To celebrate its “new era,” Silver Sevens (formerly Terrible’s), 4100 Paradise Road, is offering a $7.77 steak and lobster dinner in The Sterling Spoon Cafe from 2 to 10 p.m. every day in July. The cafe also is offering seven entrees (such as Mandarin chicken salad, a pulled-pork sandwich and eggplant Parmesan) for less than $7, 24/7, throughout July.

After years of work, a local couple are launching their own brewery at this weekend's Great Vegas Beer Festival.

Dave Forrest has been brewing up an idea for years.

As a connoisseur of beer, he has used his house as a tasting space to craft different ales using a variety of ingredients such as rosemary and orange peel.

Ultimate Taco Challenge Offered at Hard Rock This Weekend


A local restaurant is celebrating National Margarita Day and National Tortilla Chip Day with an addition to its menu: a huge taco.

Pink Taco at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is offering the Ultimate Taco challenge this weekend for serious lovers of Mexican food.

The challenge includes a three-and-a-half pound taco, one pound of which is the meat, a 25-inch crispy taco shell is filled with refried beans, rice, shredded chicken, steak, carnitas, lettuce, cheese and more. It is selling for $24, but if someone finishes it within 30 minutes, the dish is free.

The taco is served with complimentary Sauza Blue margaritas. The dish and the challenge will be available from Friday through Sunday.
