Pitch Perfect: The Costly Preparations for Sunday's Soccer Game

Pitch Perfect: The Costly Preparations for Sunday's Soccer Game

Las Vegas has hosted many big events, and this weekend another one will arrive.

Two soccer-powerhouse teams, Real Madrid and Santos Laguna, will play at Sam Boyd Stadium Sunday night.

To bring the two teams to the Las Vegas valley, the field at the stadium had to meet international soccer standards. The promoter of the event had to bring in $100,000 worth of new turf in July, to bring the field up to standards.

In a meeting last week with the coach of the Real Madrid team, the first question he asked of promoter Justice Entertainment was whether the pitch was ready for play.

“That is what we are talking about with the grass. That is what is important because you are talking about the highest payroll team in the world of sports, stepping foot on grass that has to be perfect," Daren Libonati, President of Justice Entertainment, said.
