Cheerleading Gym Holds Fundraiser and Open Tryouts

A champion cheerleader is returning home to work for a local cheer gym and this weekend, kids interesting in learning the sport can try out for the gym.

Savanna Sibley has spent the past two years as the head coach of the cheerleading team at Hawaii Pacific University, but is returning to her roots to work for Las Vegas Elements.

LVE will be holding open tryouts for kids 3 to 18 years old with any skill level Saturday and Sunday at the gym, 6560 Spencer Street.

The gym has three teams. To see tryout times and ages for the teams, go to lasvegaselements.com.

"It is the beginning of everything. It starts the whole season out. Anyone can come to the tryouts," Sibley said. "We accept everyone and anyone."

Sibley and LVE's owner were on the center's first-ever team in 1999.

LVE is also turning the tryouts into a fundraiser for a nonprofit called Superheroes 4 Sully.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a superhero-themed toy, game or clothing item to the tryout. Those items will be donated to Peggy's Attic. Also, for every donation LVE will donate $10 to Superheroes for Sully.
