One Project Ends as Another Begins Near McCarran

One project is nearly done and another is about the begin near McCarran Airport.

Crews will be working on the final piece of one project Thursday evening. The work starts at 9 p.m. and is expected to be finished around 5 a.m. Friday. Workers will be putting up the last two signs that will help direct traffic to McCarran’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.

As part of the construction, workers will shut down the two dedicated right-turn lanes from eastbound Tropicana Avenue onto southbound Paradise Road. Once the sign is in place, the third dedicated right-turn lane will be opened.

The work also includes a second sign being installed farther south on Paradise Road. That means the left southbound lane leading toward the airport and connector tunnel will be closed.

Airport officials are encouraging drivers to use Harmon Avenue or Flamingo Road to reach southbound Paradise Road while the work is going on overnight. Drivers using eastbound Tropicana Avenue will be able to turn right during Thursday night’s closure.

There will also be closures on Russell Road between Eastern Avenue and Spencer Street starting Thursday night. Workers will be installing airport signs there as well. Lane closures along that stretch of road will be 24 hours a day for a month. The closures will switch intermittently between eastbound and westbound lanes. There will also be times when lanes on both sides of the road will be in place. One lane will remain open, but drivers are advised to use Maryland Parkway.
