Runnin' Rebels Tickets Selling Fast

Runnin' Rebels Tickets Selling Fast

LAS VEGAS - Can you imagine a day when they have to throw up a "No Vacancy" sign at the Thomas and Mack Center? If seat sales are an indication, there hasn't been this much interest in Runnin' Rebels basketball in 20 years.

"Coming off last season, the excitement was really strong," said Thomas and Mack Center Ticket Sales General Manager Matt Smith.

"We have an exciting style of play. We have good players who are returning. We have good players coming in," said UNLV Head Coach Dave Rice.

Whether it's tradition, interest in players, or recruiting, the Thomas and Mack is selling out. Available seats in the lower bowl have nearly vanished.

"I expect after these two days, with all the deposits, with all the deposit holders, they will come in and take up the lower level inventory," Smith said.

"It's a great home-court advantage for us, and we just like to share all the success with the fans," Rice said.

NBA Summer League Wraps Up Successful Season

LAS VEGAS -- The NBA Summer League wrapped up its last game Sunday. Organizers say it was a record breaking season, or in other words, a slam dunk.

"We've had a very successful league we've had record attendance," said Executive Director Warren LeGarie.  "TV has been off the charts. Las Vegas has proven itself to be one of the great hosts in the country."

LeGarie says the NBA Summer League has been coming to Las Vegas since 2004 and it's been a growing success for the organization, the city and the fans.

"I got to meet Kendall Marshall when he came out of the locker room.  I said what's up.  He said, 'how you doing kid?'  Then he gave me a shoe," said 14-year-old fan Chris Parker.  "He autographed it."
