An instructor at UNLV recently earned the highest recognition in the Broadway world for his work on a production of Pippin.

Jonathan Deans earned a Tony Award nomination for his sound design for Pippin on Broadway. Deans teaches sound design for the UNLV Department of Theatre and for the entertainment engineering & design program.

The award winners will be announced Sunday, June 9, in a show airing on CBS.

Deans' other credits include Carrie (2012 Drama Desk Nomination), La Cage aux Folles (2010 Tony and Drama Desk Nominations), Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Spiderman - Turn Off the Dark, Young Frankenstein, Pirate Queen, Lestat, Brooklyn, Taboo, Follies, Seussical, Music Man, Fosse, Parade, Ragtime, Candide, and Disney's King David. 

His work with Cirque du Soleil includes Michael Jackson’s ONE, LOVE, Ovo, Corteo, KA, Zumanity, La Nouba, O, Mystere and Saltimbanco.
